| In 1945, visionary designer, thinker and inventor, Buckminster Fuller, completed his design for the Dymaxion House. He hoped, in partnership with Beech Aircraft to build 6000 a year for the GIs returning from World War II. The partnership foundered, and when the dust settled, only 2 prototypes had been built. One of the investors bought both and combined them into a single Dymaxion House which he and his family enjoyed for many years. Eventually it was acquired and restored by The Henry Ford which now proudly displays it to all. I went on a tour of this building—so criticial to the history of modern prefabrication. I hope you enjoy this glimpse. |

Love your website. My dad was a student of Fuller’s when Fuller was a visiting prof at MIT. Leonard Parker later went on to work for Eero Saarinen in Bloomfield Hills where I played under the drafting tables and in the model room until I was about 6. I worked for Roche Dinkeloo in the late 1970’s. They were still using many of the scale figure photos taken by Charles and Ray Eames in their scale models used to study their designs. Good luck with your ventures. Regards, Aaron
