| 901: after 45 years of working was made out of our family’s powerful feeling that the Eames Office space at 901 Washington Boulevard was a treasure that needed to preserved—at least on film. It could not be physically preserved because the entire building was condemned for earthquake safety reasons even before Ray’s death in 1988.
So I made this film practically one step ahead of the crew of family and friends, lovingly dismantling the place—in part for the family collection, but also for the Library of Congress, Vitra Design Museum and several others. We are showing it now to celebrate the re-opening of the Eames Office public space in a new location on January 24th.
The original film is 28 minutes long. it is being shown in two parts because of the commitment of DASFilmFest to keep each under 20 minutes (we actually shoot for 10 minutes or so)
